Hi!
Finally getting into some shopping FAQs from Instagram, and the theme is definitely summer—I mean, duh. We’re talking swimwear, sleepwear, travel totes, summer dresses, vacation looks, and more.
Also, just want to say sorry for the delay—and my general absence—over the past few weeks. I got shingles, if you can believe it, which knocked me out for a good 10 days. Gnarly virus. Not exactly the kind of wedding prep I had in mind. In any case, thank you for sticking with me in the meantime.
Summer Sleepwear
When I entered my late 20s, I found myself drawn to sleepwear beyond the world of Eberjey (no shade—they’re still a staple!) and have since developed a bit of an affinity for it.
I’m a big fan of Tekla sleepwear, and of all the options here, they’re the least seasonal. There’s quite a bit of it on sale right now at SSENSE.
When it comes to nightgowns, it’s pretty hard to beat Dôen, but Celestine looks incredibly beautiful and is on my list to try. Also on my list is If Only If, which my girl friend put me onto. For something less delicate but buttery soft, I love Riposo and Petite Plume.
Reformation recently put out sleepwear—most of which looks like it could double as a breezy summer look.
Travel Bags
Few travel bags compare to Longchamp’s expandable Le Pliage. I never travel without mine. It’s durable, unprecious, and expands significantly to make room for any additions that might be coming home with you.
The LL Bean Boat and Tote is another longtime favorite of mine. It’s great for travel, weekend trips, grocery runs, work—the list goes on. For a slightly more polished option, you might consider Toteme’s Beach tote.
If we’re talking luxe, Métier is at the top of my list. They recently loaned me a bag to try, and I was really impressed with the craftsmanship and thoughtful compartments it offered.
If you’re after a duffle bag, there’s the giant suede duffle from Saint Laurent, the Gio (the ultimate dream, with a similar style available in nylon), but Zach and I are currently sharing the Aries bag, which certainly does the trick.
Swimwear
The number one brand on my radar right now is Lido. I’ve just ordered a piece from their collection with Lié—I can report back if anyone is interested! Some other pieces I have my eye on are the Venti bikini, the Uno one piece, and the Cinquantasei in the perfect yellow stripe. And allow me to be sidetracked for one sec for their clothing?
A forever favorite swimwear brand is Eres—they’re an investment, but I love them year after year, and they wear incredibly well over time. My go-to styles are the Malou bikini and the Aquarelle swimsuit, both available in a variety of colours.
I’ll also always love Hunza G —they’re the most comfortable swimwear I own. We’re talking about their classic crinkle swimsuit, but their new seersucker style looks interesting—especially considering there’s a matching dress.
Summer Dresses
When I’m on the hunt for a summer dress, I always start with Doen, Matteau, and most recently, G.Label. Some highlights from the three: the Lida, Leana, Odelina, and Daphne from Dôen; the Pintucked Maxi from Matteau; and the Natasha and Mini Caftan from G.Label.
A few more worth noting, from Faithfull, COS, Loulou Studio, Comoli, and Cou Cou.
Easy Vacation Outfits
The easiest way to get dressed on vacation without any thought is one, and stating the obvious here, a dress (see above!); or two, a matching set. Of course, they’re designed as a pair, but they’re great for packing because they can be separated to create additional looks—more bang for your buck (read: prime luggage real estate).
Some that I’m personally considering at the moment: the Lido Oversized Shirt and Straight Leg Trouser; the Cou Cou Iris Tank and Bermuda Short; the G.Label Flynn Button Down and Teddy Short; everything from soldout.nyc; and, of course, Deiji Studios—the classic 03 Set and the Placket Short Set.
Summer Jacket (Not Denim)
In the summer months, I’m mostly layering with my button-downs as the “outerwear,” but when the weather calls for it, the jacket I’ve been wearing most is Toteme’s Summer Parachute Jacket—and I couldn’t recommend it more. G.Label’s Cate Jacket is another great option (this one is similar and on sale). There’s always the wrap sweater, or—how about a silk taffeta windbreaker? Sounds pretty fab to me. I’ll leave you with the Bradley Jacket in a compact cotton fabric.
That’s all for today! Next week, we’ll continue with flats and sandals to wear with everything, must-have pieces for summer in the city, easy summer tops, basket bags, and more.
Until then!
Please report back on the Lie bikini! Love this weeks substack xx
Love the jacket !!!! ♥️
