We’re back this week to run through the rest of your shopping questions! Let’s get straight to it!

Fall Denim

As a dedicated collector (borderline obsessor) of denim, I feel well-qualified to make recommendations.

Dark Denim Jeans: Vintage Levi’s will always be my answer (at least one of them)—Jeanius Shop has a great selection. Otherwise, Joe’s Jeans recently sent me a high-rise straight-leg pair that I’ve been loving, and RE/DONE offers a similar option with a slightly more relaxed fit. For a more oversized look, consider sizing up in vintage Levi’s or opt for this pair from COS, which is currently on its way to me. The Selena jean from Camilla and Marc is also spot-on. For dressier options, Toteme’s Classic Cut Full Length (bonus: you can choose your length) or Khaite’s Abigail in Montgomery are my top picks.

The Selena Jean

Denim Shirt: For a casual look, this option from The Frankie Shop feels like something I’d want to wear every day. This one from Aritzia also stands out to me— less rigid, more comfortable, and very tuck-in-able. For a sturdier, slightly dressier choice, you can’t go wrong with these options from Toteme and Khaite.

Denim Jacket: I love a denim jacket—it’s a closet staple that works just as well for your commute to Pilates as it does for dinner. Buttoned up, it can also serve as a denim shirt, so you’re really getting two looks in one! Reformation got the proportions just right with The Brooks denim jacket—I’m partial to the Lesina, Mille, and Turano washes. The Inger denim jacket from Skall Studio also has the relaxed fit I love but is slightly more cropped. Both washes are fab. This one from Bally feels vintage in all the right ways while still looking elevated. And, of course, more options from Toteme and Khaite—sorry, but they really do luxe denim so well!

Going out tops

Truth be told, I’m typically not big on the going out top. While they can be beautiful, they rarely feel versatile, which doesn’t align with my buying philosophy. Plus, more often than not, they just end up hanging in my closet, untouched.

Silk Scoop Neck, Moon Oversized Shirt, Biggins Camisole, Teddy Top, Biggins Camisole

Sure, I make exceptions here and there, but for the most part, I prefer instead to play with fabrics that feel a bit more elevated—like a silk or satin camisole (TRR has many), a semi sheer knit, or a great button down (maybe with a touch of lace peeking out). These are pieces that can be going out-y but also versatile enough to wear with on other occasions.

Take this Carven shirt, for example. I’ve worn it on its own, buttoned up with trousers, as a jacket layered over a camisole with a necklace and dark denim, and left open over a mini dress. Bottom line: I’d much rather invest in beautiful layering pieces like this that aren’t restricted to just going out.

Knit wear

Knitwear is a vast category, and another one I would consider myself slightly obsessed with—I could easily write an entire letter on this subject alone! Most of you are on the hunt for sweaters around the $500 mark, so let's focus on that today.
