Summer is in the air and so, it seems, are thoughts surrounding what we want to wear— I figured it was a good time to bring back another round of Shopping Q&A.
I've gone through all the questions that came in on Instagram earlier this week and we're covering the most frequently asked, save for a few that were such a hit they deserve a post of their own. Stay tuned!
Tops! Specifically, Summer Basics
Easy tops that can be worn on their own, layered with other pieces in your closet, and make getting dressed every day feel easy.

For true everyday staples, this tank and this top are a good starting point. Every summer wardrobe can benefit from a long sleeve t-shirt too. I wore this one the other day and it seems many of you love it as much as I do.
If we’re spicing it up slightly, I suggest an elbow or v-neck tee and this tank is more of an investment but absolutely perfect. I’m always in favour of a boatneck and a breezy cotton voile top feels like a summer staple to me too.
For evening, I love both a halter (option one and two) and a cashmere tank. Some great options here, here, and here. This is also fab.
And for layering, this poplin blouse is beautiful, and a UPF button-up screams summer to me!
Wedding Guest Dresses
A search as old as time… the never ending struggle to find wedding guest dresses seems to spare no one. Personally, my approach is to try not to get lost in the details of it all and focus on finding something that will actually be rewearable. That way the following season when I’m in a bind, I’ll have a good piece to fall back on.
There are a lot of winners on TheRealReal — two from my personal saved obsessions… Gucci option one and two.
A silk slip can take you very far and its use will extend far beyond wedding guest dress. Final black option, I swear.
This Colleen Allen open back gown is really pretty and very sexy (as seen here on Devon Lee Carlson). Also in lilac, this Tory Burch dress is WOW.
This Staud dress will always be gorgeous. Another brown option that could be dressed up or down. And we’ll close off with this Rose Brocade number.
Summer Flats…
Many of us are on the hunt for summer shoes so I pulled together an extensive selection for you… are we ready?
Let’s start with flats. Personally, I’m really into a flat mule. I think they’re summery, feminine and easy to slip on and go. The new June satin mule in particular has caught my eye and is the number one contender at the moment as an addition to my summer shoe collection. These are also beautiful and nearly identical.
Two suede options in colours bright enough to feel fully appropriate for summer, with the ability to extend into fall.
I love a glove flat — these have been on my wishlist for a while, these gathered flats are on there too, and these are fun in a really punchy shiny white. Pink satin Tabis are lovely.
If you're looking for a shoe to clock steps in that isn't a sneaker, these are incredibly comfortable and they’re still one of my most worn shoes years after purchasing. Ref's version is super cute too.
… and Sandals
Onto sandals. If it hasn’t already been made clear, I’m a big proponent of the flip flop — these are both very classic and pared back but still visually interesting. This silhouette is a bit more of a departure if you’re after something with a twist. These are an old favourite from The Row, the strap is really thin and elegant.

I’m a sucker for a T-strap, another sandal I think looks really elegant. These are executed perfectly, here’s a python option, and a chunkier croc embossed. Two last thong sandals for good measure before we move onto slides— I like the white stitching here, and if you’re looking for a tiny bit of height, these are for you.
I’ll leave it here with three slide options.
Lightweight Cashmere
I can think of many amazing options! Generally I like to go for a cotton cashmere blend for summer — a little bit breezier. A few favourites to follow.
I've never ever been disappointed in a purchase from &Daughter, and they have an entire line of lightweight knitwear. Jardin Des Orangers also always has beautiful thinner knit options.
Sweaters in short sleeve form are ideal for summer, like this one from TOVE. Extreme Cashmere is another favourite brand and they have plenty of henleys, t-shirts, and tanks in all sorts of colours.
Lisa Yang has an entire summer collection. This set (which they’ve paired with the The Row Sandals I shared earlier) in particular has caught my eye.
I think Aritzia does good cashmere at a fair price point, and here's a nice sporty option from Alex Mill.
Green Chinos / Cargos
While I’m fully aligned, I wasn’t anticipating seeing this inquiry quite as much! I do feel though that it’s tough to find a pair that feels just right.
I don’t think we need to look much further than these, but just in case — two more from Fortela, and a slightly more muted option here.
Okay, this feels like a good place to stop. If I missed something you were hoping for, feel free to let me know in the comments or DM — otherwise more to come soon in the form of deeper dives!
