Just Married! Followed by a Few Days in Montecito & LA: What I’ve Been Up To, Wearing, and Reading
Hi!
Felt like we were due for another catch-up. As some of you know, I recently got married in California. We had a small(ish) wedding of 62 people, ourselves included, and it couldn’t have been more of a dream. The day was filled with so much love and joy—it was truly palpable. I can’t wait to share more once all the footage comes in!
I’m fully in awe of all the brides who work, plan their wedding, and head straight into a honeymoon. We decided to push our honeymoon to the fall, but we still wanted a little something right after the wedding—so we headed south to Montecito for a few days to float on our newlywed cloud, just the two of us. We explored, ate, shopped, hiked, beached, swam, hit the spa, and relaxed.

We wrapped it up with a few days in LA to visit family and spend quality time with our baby nephew Remi, who is growing up way too fast! He’s doubled in size since we last saw him, but he’s still just as delicious as ever.
Wearing, Doing
You wouldn’t believe the jumble of clothing, accessories, and toiletries I threw into an unmentionable (because I’m too ashamed to say) number of suitcases. I think I blacked out when I packed— probably because I was too focused on making sure I had everything for the actual wedding—but between what I threw in and a few last minute pick-ups in LA, the travel wardrobe came together. Let’s recap:
Look 1

Pre-wedding, a day in LA spent appointment hopping. I had a lymphatic this day, so I knew I wanted something easy to change out of—and that wouldn’t cling to me afterwards. I also knew much of the day would be spent under blasting AC, hence my trusty AFLALO sweater.
Look 2
Night before our welcome party! We joined both sides for a big family dinner. I wore an Attersee dress that is as comfortable as it is beautiful (or at least I think so). I couldn’t resist adding the tassel belt, which matches perfectly.
Look 3

Day after the wedding. Once our guests left, I changed into a swimsuit to nurse my exhaustion by the pool. I love this dress from The Garment, a newer addition to my warm weather wardrobe.
Look 4

The tricky thing about getting dressed for California is how much the weather changes in a single day—cold in the morning, perfect by mid-morning, hot as ever midday, then plunging back down to cold. I don’t mind the variation itself, but especially as a visitor, it can be a challenge (most of all when trying to pack light). My simple solution for this trip was light dresses with heftier sweaters.
Look 5

Posed photos of the two of us always make me laugh for some reason, so they’re few and far between—but the backdrop was too beautiful not to share.
Look 6

A few late afternoon hours spent reading and swimming. I can always rely on a DÔEN dress to make me feel pulled together quickly and easily. Similarly, I’m wearing my all-time favorite one-piece, the Eres Aquarelle, which never fails to facilitate a no-brainer swim look.
Look 7

Off to get a drink by the beach and then to dinner, wearing a favourite from my knitwear collection. I’d wanted it desperately since seeing it IRL in Amagansett last summer. When I later found it quite majorly discounted, I knew I had to make it mine.
Look 8

A perfectly romantic dress I preordered from Moda months ago. Our first getaway as husband and wife seemed like the perfect opportunity to wear it!
Look 9

Back to LA. Not much going on here—felt like putting absolutely no effort into my outfit so I just stuck with the classics.
Look 10

Out for the afternoon to grab lunch, pop into some galleries, and do a little window shopping. I was served an Instagram ad for these Zara pants, which looked too good not to try. They did need a little tailoring, but I love ’em.
Look 11

The last outfit from the trip that was captured. Tried a new style from FLORE FLORE, and it did not disappoint.
Reading
I’ll leave you with some light literature. While in Montecito, I finally finished the ACOTAR series with A Court of Silver Flames—though rumor has it she’s working on a sixth. I started dragging at book four, but things definitely picked up in five. It was a fun series, but I’m happy to be finished with fantasy for now.
I’d brought The Bombshell by Darrow Farr to California with me, so I started it on the plane ride home. I’m only about a third of the way through, but so far I’m loving it. The main character, Séverine, cracks me up, and Farr’s sharp, witty writing makes it the kind of book that feels both clever and easy to sink into.
That’s all for now.
