Makeup

Last August, I picked up this foundation at the Melrose store, and it has since become a favourite of mine. It’s radiant but still skin-like, and really perfect for summer. I’d describe this concealer (more recently made famous by Hailey Bieber) in a similar way. It looks really natural on the skin. Another MAKE product I swear by is the Brow Gel. It’s super strong hold but not crunchy— I used on my wedding day.

Westman Atelier is one of my all-time favourite makeup brands, and it’s included in the Industry’s Edit. Most recently, I’ve been fixating on the already beloved contour stick in a new-to-me shade, Toast. It’s really warm and pretty and I like that it falls somewhere between contour and bronzer, so it gives me a bit of a 2-in-1. I feel very strongly about it.

If you’re after more of a true bronzer, the new Sun Tone Bronzing Crème is fab. Their blushes are unmatched (I’m partial to Petal), this mascara is my go-to (and has been for years), and the Hydrobalm Tinted Lipstick is hydrating while leaving the prettiest sheer wash of colour on the lips. I could go on about Westman because there are so many others I love, but for the sake of editing, I’ll stop here.

I also recently wrote about my love for Saie (here!), and some of those products are available at Violet Grey too. Including the Vanity Case in this perfect shade of red.

Skincare

I’m trying my best to keep my skincare really simple and pared back right now, which is genuinely hard for me because I have a compulsion to try everything. Lately, I mostly get my fix by playing around with lip, under-eye, and body products, so my recommendations in those arenas are especially well vetted.

Fair warning, I’ve spoken about my love for the following on a few occasions already, but when I wrote earlier about some of my favourite beauty discoveries coming from the VG boutique, two products I think of specifically are the 111Skin Cryo Depuffing Eye Mask and the Rejuvenating Eye Cream. Both were suggested to me years ago and have stayed in my routine ever since.

Some other under-eye products that have also made their way into the rotation: the Naked Beauty MD Hydrogel Eye Masks and the Biopeptide Growth Factor Eye Therapy. Also really fantastic. These products have impressed me the most out of everything I’ve tried in this category, but for the sake of research, I’ll be trying the EyeLift Bioremodeling Peptide Multiplex next.

When it comes to lips, the Lip Plasma Compound is tried and true and great to apply before bed. I also love the Lip Balm from Doctor Rogers.

Bath and Body

If you’ve read any of my beauty letters pertaining to body care, you likely know I’m a big fan of daily dry brushing— this is the one I use. Another pre-shower product I love is the Instant Peel. It’s a great product to pick up heading into summer if you’re looking to boost your glow.

For bath and shower, you’ll always find this body wash and this bath soak stocked in mine.

Post-shower, I love using this firming serum before applying this oil-balm hybrid all over. It’s amazing.

Hair

Violet Grey has the two shampoos and conditioners I rotate between—the Roz Foundation Duo and the Crown Affair Volumizing Shampoo and Hydrating Conditioner. Both have been my go-tos for years now.

As a treatment, I’ve been blown away by the Filament Tensile Strength Hair Treatment Mask. I noticed a difference after just one use; hair has never felt so silky.

Post-shower, I always wrap my hair in this hair towel (and keep it up while doing skin and body care) before brushing through with a vented brush and then applying the Roz Milk Hair Serum.

When I’m stretching out my hair wash days, I’m always grateful for this Dry Shampoo. If my hair is pulled back, I’ve likely used the Crown Affair Finishing Gel to hold everything in place. I like that it doesn’t feel pasty and brushes out easily.

It genuinely brings me so much joy when I hear you’ve tried something I’ve recommended and love it just as much as I do. Step 1: For over three years (and counting), Glowy Super Gel has been the base of most of my makeup looks. It’s the perfect lightweight layer that hydrates while instantly brightening and adding luminosity (glitter-free!). It leaves skin looking radiant and healthy, and is equally as good on no-makeup days, layered over SPF for a subtle boost.

Step 2: When it comes to concealer, I prefer a skin-like finish— something that freshens up my under eyes while seamlessly concealing redness and blemishes, without sliding off over the course of the day. That’s exactly what I’ve found in the Slip Tint Concealer. It offers sufficient coverage (medium) while still being both stretchy and buildable, making it work for just about every kind of makeup look.

Step 3: Most days, I’ll stop here and move straight to lip, but if I have work or dinner plans, I’ll continue on. The Dew products are incredible. They’re a cream formula that blends beautifully, offers great control, and leaves a soft-focus finish for a seamless flush of colour. Dew Bronze goes on first for warmth, followed by Dew Blush for a pop of colour. I’ve tried many of the shades and they’re all amazing, but Lady is the one I reach for most.

Step 4: As soon as I finish with cream products, I set to lock everything in place. I like to use a small, precise brush, tap off the excess really well, and apply under the eyes, over the smile lines, and on any blemishes I’ve concealed. The Slip Tint Undetectable Baked Setting Powder is truly one of my all time favourites because it’s just that—undetectable. I love that it’s blurring rather than mattifying, while still keeping the skin looking hydrated and radiant. The pressed format also makes it perfect for travel or touch-ups on the go.

Step 5: If I’m really going for it, I’ll finish my complexion with powder bronzer and blush to amp up the look and set the rest of my face. The SuperSuede Baked Powder Blush has been my most-used powder blush since adding it to my kit—it has an incredible velvety texture that never feels cakey or drying. Mia is my go-to for the apples of my cheeks, Ciao everywhere else— I love the bronzy tone.

Given how much I love the blush, I was thrilled when Saie released their SuperSuede Radiant Baked Bronzer. It has all the same qualities I love in the blush, and the perfect undertone that never leaves me looking orange or over bronzed. I’ll often pop it in my crease too for a subtle shadow after sweeping it over my face. Finishing with both really helps ensure my makeup lasts all night.

Step 6: Before moving on to lip, I’ll add a light spritz of setting spray. The CitySet Setting Spray is lightweight, hydrating, has a natural finish, and feels undetectable. The mist is ultra-fine, so I always get a light, even veil that really brings my makeup together and locks it in place for hours.

Step 7: Last but not least, lips—my favourite part. Lip Liner 101 is so creamy it glides on without any friction whatsoever, which makes its staying power even more impressive. Flirt is probably what I wear most, but it’s a close call with Twist. I top with Glossybounce for a high-shine, cushiony gloss that’s never sticky and genuinely hydrating. Kiss or Dip are my go-tos.

As you’re reading this, I’ll be off on vacation with my husband! It’s been a predictably nutty week leading up to the trip, so I’ve got a quickie for you today: some recent favourites—all the things I’ve been loving lately—and a few beauty purchases, both new and restocked.

Favourites:

&Daughter Twin Set

I’m talking about the Enya Cashmere Cardigan and the Emer Cashmere T-Shirt. I’ve written about both pieces before because I truly do love them a lot. &Daughter really nailed the perfect iteration of both: simple, no loud details, beautifully made, and endlessly versatile. Two pieces to wear through every season and for years to come. They’re not sold as a twin set, and they each hold their own, but I love wearing them together.

Body of Work Basics

I recently ordered a few pieces from Body of Work and have been very pleased with all of them.

• Quince Short Sleeve T-Shirt: Great fit and quality—I love the raglan stitching.

• Camellia Pant: The type of pant I want to wear every day. They’re comfortable and roomy but structured enough to feel put together. If you’re on the taller side, they have good length to them— which I really appreciate.

• Dahlia Scrunchie: Top three best scrunchies ever— one that actually stays put (workout approved!). I thought I lost mine the other day and felt deeply upset about it, so it’s safe to say I’m attached. They’re expensive for a scrunchie, but personally, I think they’re entirely worth it.

Yogurt Mask

Maybe a bit of a fringe rec, but I’ve been using yogurt masks twice per week over the past month and my skin has been so much calmer for it—I’m kind of shocked! I was skeptical at first, but it’s a great treatment for reactive skin: soothing, supportive of the microbiome, and mildly exfoliating (thanks to lactic acid). Sensorially, it’s not my favorite thing in the world, if I’m being completely honest, but the benefits make it worthwhile.

I use Organic Meadow plain full-fat yogurt, but the key is to look for one that contains Streptococcus thermophilus and make sure it’s plain and sugar-free. I leave it on for about 20 minutes each time.

m.ph Lip Ciggy

I love love love m.ph’s Lip Ciggy for a few reasons:

• The formula is hydrating and comfortable

• Feels like it sits somewhere between a lip balm and a lipstick

• The finish is sheer, shiny, and buildable

• The bullet is small and compact— perfect for on the go

I need it in every shade!

While we’re on the subject of beauty— some recent pickups (both new and restocks) I’ve made ahead of my trip.

1. Agent Nateur Body Balm, Restock: One of my favorite body hydrators—I like to rotate what I use, but I always come back to this one. It falls somewhere between a balm and an oil, so it’s rich but also quick to absorb. Formulated with fab ingredients to help improve skin tone, texture, and radiance.

2. Make Beauty Infinite Hold Brow Gel, Restock: My go-to heavy-duty brow gel (the one I used on my wedding day!). Keeps brows in place all night without a white cast or crunchiness, and it’s formulated with ingredients that treat while they hold.

3. Crown Affair The Finishing Gel, Restock: I never travel without this! Lightweight hair gel, great for slick backs or taming flyaways.

4. Victoria Beckham Posh Balm, Restock: One of my all time favorite lip products. It’s a buttery balm with the prettiest shine—it’s hydrating and not sticky in the slightest. A great hybrid product and my go to for an everyday lip.

5. Victoria Beckham FeatherFix, Restock: I know I’m doubling up on brow gel, but I’ve always liked having two in my kit— one strong hold for when I’m going more full glam (MAKE) and one for everyday. FeatherFix is one of my go tos because it keeps brows in place but truly feels like you have nothing on.

6. Victoria Beckham The Foundation Drops, New: I resisted as long as I possibly could, but we all knew I’d end up trying this eventually.

1. mp.h Lip Ciggy, New Shades: Because I’m loving Lip Ciggy so much, I wanted to pick up a couple of new shades ahead of my trip. I now have Slow Burn, Overdrive, and Love Bites in my collection and they’re all perfect.

2. NAKEDBEAUTY MD Hydrogel Eye Mask, New: I’ve been hearing so many rave reviews about these, so I need to see what they’re all about. Supposedly, they rival my all-time favorites from 111SKIN… we shall see!

Before we wrap this up, I’ll leave you with a few pieces from Iris von Arnim that have made it onto my wishlist. No surprise here—they’re all sweaters.

A sweater that’s substantial in its look and feel but lightweight enough to layer under jackets and coats can be hard to come by—but I think I’ve found it in the Swan. Not to mention, it’s in the most beautiful shade of alabaster. It’s on its way to me, I’ll keep you posted.

While I was browsing their site, the Laureen and Rockdale caught my eye as pieces I’d use all fall and winter long for layering (the Laureen easily extending into spring and summer). Again, I love the softness of the off-white. I think I’d wear both of these a ton!

So I thought I’d share mine—the ones that always make me feel a little bit better. And shoutout to the puffiness and exhaustion I woke up with today for inspiring this letter.

1. Dry Brush: Step one is a full body approach to boost circulation and support lymphatic drainage. It’s the perfect way to prep for face focused tools, especially if you spend a little time (gently) on the neck. I like to do this before getting in the shower, and if I’m feeling brave, I’ll finish with 30 seconds of cold to really jolt me awake.

2. Gua Sha: I wish I were more consistent with gua sha—I think daily use is where you really see the benefits. That said, on mornings when I need extra help, using one straight from the fridge feels amazing and definitely helps to drain puffiness. I like the stainless steel or platinum ones most because they retain a chill and are naturally anti-microbial.

3. Theraface Depuffin Wand +Eye Activator Serum: You may notice a theme here—cold therapy. To quote directly, the TheraFace is “clinically proven to reduce under-eye puffiness, diminish dark circles, and enhance radiance,” plus it feels incredibly soothing. I use it mainly under the eyes, always paired with Westman Atelier’s Eye Activator Serum. The serum not only provides the perfect slip for the wand to glide smoothly, but it also hydrates while targeting dark circles and puffiness—a perfect pair!

4. Cryo De-Puff Eye Mask: the eye mask that proved to me that eye masks can actually make a difference. I’m attached to these—I never go anywhere without them. They’re my secret weapon when I need to look more awake and less puffy, and they really seal the deal on the skin side of our de-puff + awaken routine. Keep these in the fridge too!

On days like this I find that, somewhat ironically, less really is more. If I try to overcorrect with makeup, I end up feeling worse. Instead, I stick to a little bit of concealer and blush—to help me perk up and bring some life back to my face.

5. Radiant Concealer: A luminous, light-coverage concealer. It won’t completely erase, but it will ease, hydrate and brighten. Formulated in partnership with Augustinus Bader, it’s very much a skincare-makeup hybrid—and clinicals show it can improve dark circles, puffiness, and hyperpigmentation with consistent use. Love!

6. Incognito Blush: My current hyperfixation. It’s buildable, but here I’m going for a sheer wash of color. I love the way the watery tint melts into the skin for a natural, from-within flush—it gives the illusion of looking healthy and alive. You can even tap a little onto your lips while you’re at it, if you’re so inclined!

7. Curl, Hold, and Brush Up: A quick curl always helps the eyes look more open and awake. Instead of mascara, I like to smooth a bit of Egyptian Magic on my lashes with a finger or spoolie to help the curl last. I’ll also give my brows a quick brush-up, which, in my experience, really helps awaken and lift the eyes.

8. Lip: The last step is a nude liner with a hydrating balm or gloss. I find it helps everything look fresh and pulled together.

In today’s letter, I’m sharing the newness I’m loving, the old favorites that have found their way back into rotation, and what’s next on my list to try.

New Favourites

There’s a very specific kind of joy when every item in an order turns out to be a smash hit. I found it recently in a Violet Grey package filled exclusively with products I’d never tried before.

I’d been itching to try Westman Atelier’s Sun Tone Drops since it launched. My pre-wedding no-new-product rule aside, it sold out almost instantly, so I couldn’t get my hands on it. Now that I finally have, I fully understand why it caught fire—and if you’re after an easy-to-blend, subtle, healthy looking liquid bronze, it’s definitely worth a shot.

More from Westman: the new liners are so creamy, velvety, and smooth they almost feel like a soft suede lipstick in pencil form. I love.

With plenty of great concealers already in my arsenal, it takes a lot for a new one to warrant a purchase—this one from MAKE BEAUTY has proved itself worthy. Since it arrived, I’ve been alternating exclusively between this and the VB concealer pen (aside from Clé de Peau for spot correction, always). It’s light in coverage, hydrating and radiant, and blends seamlessly into the skin—perfect for no makeup makeup days or a more natural look.

Victoria Beckham’s Colour Wash Blush Water Tint might be my dream blush—sheer enough to mimic a natural flush yet easily buildable for more impact. It layers beautifully for a more full-on blush look (start with stain, then move to cream, and set with powder blush) and even works as a lip tint. The staying power is impressive! I wear the shade Flushed.

I love a loose powder (Kosas Cloud Set Loose Powder in Ultra Sheer Pink, specifically), but it’s not always the most convenient for travel or when I’m rushing out the door. Enter: Saie Slip Tint Undetectable Baked Setting Powder. It’s a bold claim to call a product ‘undetectable,’ but in this case it lives up to the name. With hydrating ingredients, it blurs while keeping the skin radiant—and the smaller pressed compact neatly solves my aforementioned dilemmas.

The RŌZ x The Great Sweatshirt Hair Towel is both supremely comfortable and practical—and most importantly, it never feels like it might tip over and slide off your head. It looks like it’s currently sold out, but if you’re interested I’d sign up for the ‘Notify Me.’ Otherwise, the Crown Affair Microfiber Waffle Towel is another fantastic option and has been a staple in my routine for years.

On Fragrance

One topic that often comes up in my DMs is which scents we’re reaching for. I’m a big Byredo fan and was recently sent their newest fragrance, Alto Astral. It’s musky, fruity, fresh, and a touch sweet.

I like a scent with depth that feels fresh, salty, and androgynous. I recently picked up Ganymede from Marc-Antoine Barrois and it ticks every one of those boxes.

Some products that have found their way back into my routine

Years ago I used the entire May Lindstrom skincare line, and I’m not sure why I ever stopped—I remember it being incredibly beautiful. I’m not in a place to fuss too much with my skincare routine right now, but when the brand launched on Violet Grey, I knew I wanted it back in my life. Since then, I’ve tried both of her body oils—The Good Stuff and The Happy Galaxy. Both are rich, warm, hydrating, and luxurious, but I’m especially partial to The Happy Galaxy, which now has a permanent place in my body-care rotation.

Koh Gen Do’s Maifanshi Moisture Foundation is another product that’s back in my life, and it’s perfectly balanced—not too radiant, not too matte; hydrating yet long-lasting; lightweight with buildable coverage. A true 10/10.

Next on my list to try

Newish:

• Leave it to Victoria Beckham Beauty to entice me with something I entirely don’t need. Case in point: her collection of makeup brushes—they’ll be what I purchase next when it’s time for a refresh.

• Saie has introduced a Mini version of the Vanity Case, available in three colors exclusive to the size.

• How many toiletry cases should one own? The limit does not exist! This one feels perfectly suited to slip into your tote and keep you organized on the go.

Six product launches:

1. The new Soft Glass Lip Plumping Oil from Fara Homidi looks like a high-shine lip oil that also delivers hydration. Every product I’ve tried from the brand has been a knockout, so I can’t imagine this one will be any different.

2. Celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips just launched her line, mp.h, with three products: The Underpainting Face Palette, The Overliner, and the Lip Ciggy. Known for her underpainting and overlining techniques, I’m both literally and figuratively buying what she’s selling.

3. When Crown Affair launches a new product, I want to try it—especially when it’s clinically proven to strengthen, soften, and smooth hair after just one use.

4. Soft Services is another one of those brands I feel I can trust across the board, and one of their hero products, the Buffing Bar, just got a new scent: Affogato L’Orange.

5. Kristin Ess’ Ultra-Light Styling Cream is now available in a smaller tube with a built-in wand to make taming flyaways on the go a breeze!

6. Victoria Beckham’s The Foundation Drops debut today—her latest co-creation with Augustinus Bader, featuring their signature TFC8.

Let me just preface this by saying: I fell into the wedding beauty trap. Soon after my engagement, I decided I was going to get my ‘best skin yet’ and overhauled my entire skincare routine. Big mistake. It led me into a downward skincare spiral that has taken a very long time to recover from. And while things are much better now, I’m not going to lie—I’m still working on getting fully back to where I was (I’m left with some texture, which, mercifully, is harder to see in photo/video).

Somewhere along the way, someone said to me, “Your wedding is not an opportunity for perfection, It’s about celebrating your love for each other” and those are words I wish I’d heard much sooner. Looking back, I’m not even quite sure what I was after. My skin was great when I got engaged. All I did was cause myself worry and stress during an otherwise joyful time. So if you’re a bride-to-be, let this be your sign: don’t fix what ain’t broke!

Anyway, all this to say—because I was so focused on rebalancing my skin, there wasn’t that much fun in-office stuff I could do. It did, however, lead me to discover some truly amazing at-home alternatives that I feel confident recommending to any bride, regardless of skin type.

We’re going to dive into all of it—plus where I went for the final beauty appointments (hair, nails, facials, lymphatics) in Montreal, NYC, and LA.

As a Canadian who grew up without Memorial Day, the start of June has always felt like the true marker of summer to me. The sun is out, the weather has settled, and the heat is officially on. So, in honour of the season being properly underway, I thought I’d share my tried-and-true body care favourites—especially now that we’re (hopefully) in fewer layers and spending more time outside.

I’m all about the products and rituals that keep my skin glowing, nourished, hydrated, and protected. So, keep reading for a breakdown of the body care that helps me stay confident throughout the season.

And where better to begin than with the latest addition to my lineup: Oak Essentials’ Microbiome Balancing Deodorant. It’s a truly clean, aluminum-free formula made with skincare-grade ingredients. I love how it blends potent plant-based elements like noni fruit stem cells, blue tansy, and chia seed oil to rebalance your skin’s microbiome—all while keeping you fresh throughout the day, no reapplying needed.

The deodorant has even earned my fiancé’s seal of approval (he’s both a longtime skeptic of cleaner formulations and has sensitive skin). Pre-shower—and I’ve told you of my love for it many times before—I always dry brush. Technically, I do this year-round, but I think it’s worth noting as a summer body care must-have. It gently exfoliates to boost glowiness and creates the perfect base for everything that follows to absorb. It’s also said to support the lymphatic system, which, again, can help boost the glow!

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I still love a bath during the summer. They help me unwind and reset at the end of the day. I love Oak Essentials’ Dream Bath Soak because it’s rich in magnesium and smells like a trip to the spa.

In the PM, post-bath, I like to layer—first, Nécessaire’s Body Serum with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and ceramides, then Oak Essentials’ Luminous Body Lotion mixed with the Dew Body Oil. Truly a match made in heaven! In the morning, I use Soft Services’ Speed Soak because it absorbs instantly and never feels icky or sticky when getting dressed right after.

Once per week, I’ll use U Beauty’s Resurfacing Body Compound fresh out of the shower before moisturizing to help soften, smooth, and—once again—boost the glow (which, as you may be able to tell, is the theme here).

And before we move on, my hands still need moisturizing in the summer! I like using the Sidia Hand Serum during this time of year because it’s lightweight and sinks in quickly—great for on the go.

I’ve done laser, but if you’ve done it too, you know the hair never truly, fully goes away (Ro couldn’t have said it more accurately—but still worth it!). I keep this in the shower for touch-ups and always use coconut oil instead of shaving cream to 1) protect my skin and 2) provide hydration!

Admittedly, I’m not much of a self-tanner (if I want a fake tan, I’d rather go for a spray), but if I’m in a pinch and truly can’t bear the sight of my pale legs, the Salty Face Tanning Foam is the best I’ve ever used. And while I usually prefer a more natural glow, sometimes a shimmer is appropriate. Victoria Beckham’s Portofino ’97 Golden Shimmer Body Oil is what I’ll go for. It’s great for travel too because it can also serve as your fragrance and hair oil.

We can’t forget SPF, especially since we’re exfoliating with acids weekly—remember?! I’ve yet to find a mineral sunscreen for the body that I’m obsessed with, so in the meantime, Soleil Toujours is my go-to chemical option. Send recs for a mineral!

Last but not least, in case you’ve spent a little too much time in the sun, soothe your skin with The Sun Stone. It’s a nourishing post-sun balm that melts into the skin to hydrate, cool, and replenish—and feels like it offers a little more than your classic aloe.

Currently on its way to me in the mail: a replenishment from MUTHA.

Specifically, the Body Butter (which also comes in a bronzy, shimmery version that’s begging to be brought on your summer travels), the Body Oil, and the Pucker Lip Balm. Their body products have a really fresh, citrusy scent that feels especially right as we move into the warmer months. Every MUTHA product I’ve tried so far has been a 10/10, so I also decided to add their Contour Serum to my order this time around.

Now that I’m onto my second order of the Sangre de Fruta Hand Wash and Lotion, I can confidently recommend. I love everything about it — the scent, the lather, the fact that it doesn’t feel stripping in the slightest, and that I can just purchase the eco-refill moving forward.

I’m a longtime fan of the Victoria Beckham lip liners, so when she released her limited edition Lip Definer Kit with two new shades, I was immediately intrigued. I don’t necessarily need more nude liners, but I’m certainly tempted.

I’m a ride-or-die for my Le Prunier SPF, but LESSE recently sent me their newly relaunched Every Tone SPF 30. While I haven’t tried it yet, based on what I’ve heard, I think it might become a new staple (alongside the LP, of course). It’s earned high marks from several publications, customers, and a few friends whose opinions I really trust—so I have high hopes.

You’ve probably heard me rave about Marie Veronique x Kristina Holey’s products a few times now, but my newest obsession from their line is the trio of masks.

Specifically, giving myself an at-home facial using all three in a row: starting with the Probiotic Exfoliation mask to smooth and refine, followed by Face to Chest to deeply hydrate and cool (such a great summer mask—especially when kept in the fridge), and finishing with the Micronutrient mask to protect and rebalance. It feels like a total skin reset.

The Macrene Actives High Performance Lip Filler has bounced in and out of my cart for years, but their new Chria High Performance Tinted Lip Filler might finally get me to pull the trigger. The tinted version is just over half the size of the original and comes in four shades—all of which look really pretty.

Last but not least, Violet Grey’s curated boxes are always incredible and offer amazing value. Their latest Mother’s Day Box is packed full of luxurious products that could truly suit just about anyone. It’s an amazing gift for the mother in your life — but honestly, I wouldn’t blame you if you treated yourself to one too.
